aka "the evolution man" (penguin p/b 1963), q.v., (corgi p/b 1989, adds introduction by terry pratchett), q.v., aka "once upon an ice age" (berkley mmpb c.1968 iirc), q.v:
p/b editions lack the embellishments by hewison :(
translated at least once each into french, german, italian, and spanish, under various titles.
