the use of a uniform design for clifford d. simak's name (and for that of each of our sf & fantasy list's authors) came out of my discussion with elsbeth, and was created by the methuen london art department, but i don't now remember whether, or more precisely when, i met him to talk about the principle, and the reasons for my recommending it. elsbeth lindner was a really good editor and should have been made editorial director of methuen fiction when the abp conglomerate sold itself off - it's the job she had been doing, without ever being given the title iirc, after all.
