Have been collecting music for about 45 years. Started actually first
with cassettes, then to vinyl (because cassette releases at the time
were limited) and then over to compact discs.

GEMSMFAN = Gloria Estefan Miami Sound Machine Fan
Big fan of Gloria Estefan / Miami Sound Machine, but have collected
much else also... many female groups/singers. Was a big fan of the
swedish band, ABBA also.

GEMSMFAN 5th Nov 2016		Book Nick Hamlyn - The Penguin Price Guide For Record And CD Collectors	Anyone recall the U.S. published "CD International" catalogs? I recall that they offered for sale a CD-rom version, which included more information than the printed version.
GEMSMFAN 26th Nov 2015		Book Mario Panciera - 45 Revolutions (1976/1979)	Wow, it is available, but quite costly!! Almost 1200 pages... that's got to be heavy too.
GEMSMFAN 18th Nov 2015		Book Pat Downey - Top 40 Music On Compact Disc 1955-1994	Review A quite informative book for someone trying to track a song and a U.S. compact disc to which that song was included. Timings are presented mentioning "edited versions" or "special versions" OR whether the track was a "mono" or "stereo" mix. Sometimes special edits were substituted on the compact disc version of a particular album. Sometimes "best of" compilations were released and yet they weren't the "original" recordings and this book includes mentioning these, if known. This book is especially helpful in finding those odd tracks, many of which only were available on possibly only one exclusive compilation disc. Included are speciality comps from Time-Life such as the "Sounds of the Seventies" series and from the Special Products divisions of some of the major labels. To sum it up, this book in no way is a "complete listing" of the years included, as there were hundreds of CD's released and such a listing would require several volumes, but it is a great reference and time saver for someone wanting to track down their favorite tunes on CD. 3 people found this review helpful. ✔︎ Helpful Review?
GEMSMFAN 7th Nov 2015		Book Dave Thompson - Goldmine Standard Catalog Of American Records	I've got the 7th Edition by Martin Popoff and mine covered more years, 1948-1991... With each later edition, less years will be covered due to more information and page limitations. Some of the values are hilarious. It's only worth an amount, if there is someone out there willing to pay that.
