Extract from the back cover:

A Guide to Collecting the Rarest Recordings of The Beatles 1962 – 1970 is a completely illustrated manual to every original pressing of the vinyl records issued in the UK.

The intention of this book is to provide Beatle fans, record collectors, record dealers or those with even a vague interest in the music of The Beatles an insight into how popular collecting their music has become in its original format from when the group officially released their recordings over 50 years ago. A comprehensive guide to the records the group released in the UK during their active recording years 1962 - 1970, the book takes a look at demo's (demonstration records), 7” singles, export recordings, fan club flexi discs, EP’s (extended playing singles), LP’s (long-playing records) and more.

Firstly the book provides a brief history of ‘Parlophone’ record label to whom the band were predominantly signed then explains the important - yet sometimes complicated topic, of what EMI tax codes, mothers, stampers and matrices mean in relation to collecting these valued recordings. It then moves on to what this book is really about –collecting their famous recordings. The book concludes with a written grading system on how to determine the quality of these rarities and a ready reckoner for use as a quick-reference price guide as to how much they are worth today.

This book aims to guide its readers through what has now become a quagmire for collecting the recordings of The Beatles. This book fully illustrates how to identify original recordings and enlighten you on the facts surrounding the collecting of Beatles' records. It aims to inform and ensure that what you think you own, or are considering purchasing, in reality, is not actually something else!
