ppint. 17th May 2018		fiction, historical, western no further data given on book indica nor title pages, nor on cover, save latter printed in the u.s.a. "lennox hill press" is what crown books renamed arcadia house after buying that publisher c.1969. they paid $300 for an original book, according to r. l. fanthorpe, which is some fair indication of the quality of book they published. . .° ° - uk p/b or volume rights, generally paying somewhat lesser sums than merkin publishers, would start around £2,000 advance against royalties for a ~five year license on an original "category fiction" novel - n.b. not outright purchase of these rights; with annual, semi-annual or quarterly accounting of sales and royalties earned - plus payment of aught earned over and above the advance, in the mid-seventies. reference copy provided by courtesy of tony at the old pier bookshop, morecambe seafront
