ppint. 9th Nov 2019		yup. sometimes there're a lot of unnumbered pp, sometimes a whole signature of 'em, with half-tone b+w reproductions of photographs - sometimes on glossy paper, or semi-glossy, or just a finer matte paper; sometimes the first n pages are unnumbered, but counted in the numbering, sometimes unnumbered and not counted; sometimes numbered from i, ii, iii, iv (etc.), sometimes numbered from say iv on after unnumbered titles, indica etc; and sometimes the whole book's pages are unnumbered... ..sometimes pages with b+w line illustrations and/or maps are numbered - sometimes not.. ..sometimes books' numbering starts from 1 (or whatever) again halfway (or whatever) through a book, with no binding error repeating pages and dropping others... - all part of the fun of a life bibliographical. . .

ppint. 8th Nov 2019		the "genre" - publishing category - would be "fiction - western" if bookcat had this category, which is one of the major publishing categories it lacks. so fiction - history will have to do.
