First of the Giles annuals. Containing cartoons from the Daily and Sunday Express newspapers from October 3rd 1943 to July 7th 1946.

Published in the Autumn of each year, for the Christmas market, seventy five Giles annuals have been published to date (2022).

All of the annuals from, No.2, July 1946 - October 1947 (published 1947) up to No. 43, June 1988 - July 1989, (published Autumn 1989) has Daily and Sunday Express cartoons from the previous 12 or so months. No. 44's are undated, No. 45 has new from 1990 and 1991 and reprints, and No. 46 has reprints and 3 new from 1990 and 1991. From No. 47 (published 1993) all the annuals are collections of reprints and older cartons never previously printed in annuals.

Carl Giles stopped producing new cartoons in 1991 and died in 1995 aged 78.
