there's a literal on p.90 that should've been caught in copy-editing when this setting was readied for the printers in 1981/2: "peal" in "but it peals you right down to your second layer of hide" should be "peel";
more noteworthy in terms of the writing, new character, case renfry's name is given on p.86 without him having previously been introduced, or noted as being identified e.g. by name badge or similar, so there's no way any previous viewpoint characters could know this: did this error occur in the original hardcover, was it introduction in the first ace books mmpb setting, or did it arise in one of at least two resetting of the novel's text? |
