An emotional book guide through the St Pauli district of the early 60s from the point of view of the musician and graphic artist Klaus Voormann.

Hamburg 1960. Klaus Voormann, the young graphic arts student has an encounter in the red light district of St. Pauli that will decisively shape his future life. He experiences the still unknown Beatles on stage – and is overwhelmed. It is the beginning of a lifelong friendship and collaboration. In this book the graphic artist and musician looks back once again. With personal stories and anecdotes and his typical illustration style, he takes us on an emotional journey back to Hamburg in the early 1960s. Voormann is accompanied by his son Maximilian, who has illustrated the original locations from today’s perspective with a drawing paper and fineliner. Thus he opens a window into his father’s past with an artistic line before each chapter.
