ppint. 16th Apr 2023		smuzz1: beats me - which is partly/mostly why i was asking; printers like the total pages of any one kind of paper in a book to go along with the way paper naturally folds & re-folds (- 2) - 4 - 8 - 16 - 32 - 64 - etc. (upper limit per ''signature'' depending on the starting paper sheet size and the desired page size), as this gives both the lowest cost per page, and the printers' greatest convenience: so many-paged hardcovers and paperbacks tend to be made up of a whole number of one of these powers of two, plus some number of lower-whole-power-of-two pages, plus some number of lower-than-that-whole-power-of-two, etc., until the whole book carcase (including title page, copyright page-if-separate, table-of-contents page (if any) etc. & any end advertising pages; any blank end pages) is complete; covers - and endpapers (if any) - are additional to this optimised-for-lowest-cost number. but; small press-published, low-number-of-pages books often ignore this, whether through deliberate choice or cunning design; - and because of the neat way you imply there may be more adventure(s) to come, in the wordless illustration on the last page plus inside back cover - after the first & second endpaper design pages - - yr hmbl srppnt. found it rather difficult to decide how many pages there were. (- as you may have noticed...) - hope you're (both?) recovering well from whichever variant you co-decide you have or had. - yours, ppint. (- page count number duly adjusted.)



Smuzz1 15th Apr 2023		Dear Ppint (ppint?), Herewith cover and an internal illo (I'll add an end illo too). Thank you SO much for all this help! Isn't the Pagecount 40 internal (paper) pages with 4 pages as the (card) cover/inside cover images? Blurb: 'A boy imagines all the things he could do ... If he had a dog ... But the dog isn't magic... The magic is his imagination ... ' ' A lavishly illustrated book for 2-5 year old children, with few words but many things to expore and play with in the double page colour illustrations. By an illustrator/comic strip artist/author of over 30 years standing. ' Hope that's all ok. (Sorry for delay in replying. Had a spot of Covid. All recovering now)



ppint. 10th Apr 2023		mud and blackberries publishing large format p/b first printing, first edition cover art smuzz interior full colour art also by smuzz cover price (none printed, £9.99 on price label) 40pp. including title page & indicia, perfectbound; the two back pages decorated identically with the front endpaper design are not the last page and the inside back cover: they are followed by an envoi illustration part on the final page & part on the inside back cover; card covers. (smuzz: if you'd like the above description of your book - and especially the explanation of the page count - re-emended. . .) (edited 16/4/2023: does this fit better ?)
