 I don't know why or how I came by this,

but was dreading trying to read it, as I thought it was going to be all "Pride 'n' Prejudicy", with all that impregnable overcooked socialite English that nobody in the history of creation has ever actually spoken in these lands... ever.

... You know that kind of:

"Ooh Mr Arsey... wherefore forthwith art thy integrals to be intermittent with thy integers...etc."

(What the f...?!??!!)


(giggling bonneted debutants by pianofortes and harpsichord, and all that nonsense, I've attempted Thackeray's Vanity Fair, but gave up, as this bored the snot out of me)

But actually a great, really dark, gothic work, which suits me down to the ground.

If this is anything to go by, I might give Wuthering Heights a go too (seen the film adaptations), as it seems those Bronte girls were a little bit twisted... Grrrreat.
