In October 2000 the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, in Cleveland, Ohio held the first major collection of John Lennon memorabilia to be on display in the United States. The exhibit was called Lennon: His Life and Work.

The collection, which was generously supported by Yoko Ono, the late Lennon's wife, included Lennon's Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band uniform, as well as 25 original lyric manuscripts.

This book came about as a result of that exhibition.

Lennon Legend tells the story of the creative genius of the songwriter, artist, and social activist who changed a generation. Fully illustrated with archival images, this one-of-a-kind book offers revealing details about every era of John’s life, from his early days at art school to the height of Beatlemania to Imagine. Featured throughout are numerous reproductions of John’s handwritten songs lyrics, drawings, and other personal papers, 40 of which can be taken out of the book to be enjoyed individually. Among them are rare pieces from John Lennon’s family collection, which Yoko Ono Lennon has provided from her personal archives for use in this book. A unique tribute, Lennon Legend brings you closer than ever before to this celebrated artist.

Includes a 60-minute CD of John speaking about his life and art, and a live recording of Imagine from The Mike Douglas Show on 17 February 1972.
