| ppint. 5th Jun 2018 | ballantine books near-identical first mmpb printings, first edition, sharing merkin-printed covers cover art by gene szafran (signed szafran, credited) cover prices 95¢, u.k. 6/- (30p), australia 95¢, new zealand 95¢, south africa 75¢ so should be re-flagged "international" according to respected moderator's rule - or not so re-flagged, according to equally well-respected moderator's heartfelt plea 248pp? including titles, indica etc, end pp. advertising refer to indica to see whether carcass of copy held was canadadian- or merkin- printed no priority established nor liable to be, both stating first printing: november, 1971 it is probable that only the wholly merkin-printed variant was distributed in the yuk-of-gb-&-ni (and commonwealth countries outside of canadada) by ballantine books ltd. london, uk (and associated distributors): the canadian-carcassed copies intended for distribution north of the parallel should not have been diverted away from this - but who knows what actually occurred ? if bookcatters with copies bought new in the early-mid seventies in the yuk-of-gb-&-ni, the aunty podes could look to check the indica data in their copies, and report back here as to where theirs were printed. . . - it would be appreciated by at least yr hmbl srppnt. | |
