ppint. 26th May 2018		("block letter H in red, much smaller point G in yellow on lower rh leg") (= "hamlyn group") imprint logo, as on "flags" (1970), q.v. this logo, the imprint, and the entity publishing these books was distinct from "hamlyn paperbacks ltd.", though both were ultimately owned by ipc (later reed, later reed-elsevier) after paul hamlyn sold his share of his publishing interests to them. hamlyn paperbacks ltd. was the entity that, inter alia, published crime, horror and science fiction lists (the latter of which was effectively edited by yr hmbl srppnt.), the fiction lists being set up for ron chopping, the only competent mangling-director we ever had (on loan from ipc), by his "poaching" peter lavery and myself from abp where he (peter)'d set up methuen paperbacks ltd, later magnum books ltd, and i'd accidentally turned into his sf & fantasy editor...) as well as "general fiction" and "best-seller" category fiction (publishing categories are somewhat peculiar. . .). these hamlyn publishing group/sun books "all-colour paperbacks" handbooks were never part of the hamlyn paperbacks ltd. catalogue or lists, despite being undeniably paperbacks produced by the hamlyn publishing group, as in fact quite a lot of the conglomerate's uk card-covered ("paperback") publishing never was. . .
