| ppint. 26th Sep 2018 | award books, inc. new york (usa) mmpb first printing, not first mmpb edition cover art by jeff jones (unattributed, art signed "j jones") cover price 60¢ cat# A641S in line with small logo (stylised "A" on small white (reversed-out) disc in centre of starburst of white lines), cover price, "K"; top right-hand front cover; above emblazonment declaring "an award novel of gothic horror", above decorative figure. 192pp? including titles, indica etc, end pp. advertising three further award books printings as above, except cat#, cover price and the position of the line including these and logo, moved to top right-hand edge of cover (and the "K" indicating newsstand distribution by kable news is dropped), and a large yellow pinked-edged roundel is added, lower right-hand of cover announcing first prize-winning achievement: second printing: A680S 75¢ 10/1970 (indica gives year only) as above, but award logo changes to a larger upper-case "A" with looped lower legs upon a white (reversed-out) rectangle: third printing: AN1143 95¢ 6/1973 (indica gives no printing/edition date) fourth printing: AN1143 95¢ 12/1974 (& indica gives months and years of earlier printings) some copies of second printing bear third (& fourth) printing's cat# and price in black on white paper label stuck over cover price. (reported:) these may also bear a stuck-on label with the new award "A" logo upon the spine; probably all bearing the front cover label were distributed carrying this. | |
