ppint. 29th Dec 2017		sequel collection is "the people: no different flesh" (1966), q.v. n.b. the stories in both are widely spread over many decades, so the books overlap in time somewhat. there is a uk p/b of most, and an initially limited (iirc) edition merkin h/cvr omnibus of all of ''the people'' stories - including a number of stories not in these two earlier, separately-published collections: ''the people collection'' ed. diane pearson (corgi books p/b, london 1991) subtitled ''(the) zenna henderson omnibus 1'' but the editor died, transworld publishers promptly dropped the fine sf list she'd built up over decades of unsung excellent work - and ''omnibus 2'' never appeared. ''ingathering'' eds. mark olson, priscilla olson (nesfa press merkin h/cvr, 1995)



ppint. 15th May 2022		avon books near-identical third mmpb printings sharing merkin-printed covers, cat# and cover art by hector garrido (credited) cover price 60¢ 256pp. including titles, indicia etc, end p. advertising refer to indicia publishing history to see if carcass of copy held was canadadian- or merkin- printed no priority established nor liable to be, both state third avon printing, january, 1967 as well as cover illustration by hector garrido third printing, because one of the two simultaneous first printings will have been deemed to be the second printing; conventionally, this was deemed to have been the canadian-carcassed printing intended for distribution north of the parallel. ppint. 15th May 2022		the details of this bookcat item appear to've been taken from donald h. tuck's ''encyclopedia of science fiction and fantasy through 1968 volume 1: who's who, a-l'' (advent, chicago 1974), and it may well be a chimaera, in error for the avon books simultaneous second printings, declared third printings (because of one of their two first printings being retrospectively deemed the second printing), of january 1967. the next avon books mmpb printings are that pair dated january, 1967 (declared third printing), cat# S243, simultaneous canadadian- and merkin- carcassed, cover price 60¢; then those dated january, 1970 (declared fifth printing, probably because of one of the third printing pair being retrospectively deemed the fourth printing), cat# V2312 simultaneous canadadian- and merkin- carcassed, cover price 75¢; and then that dated september, 1972 (also declared fifth printing - possibly because someone actually counted the number of prior wholly-merkin printings), also cat# V2312, also 75¢ cover price; so far only merkin-carcassed copy seen reported; but this spacing of definite reprints suggests that it's very unlikely that avon books published different reprintings in both 1966 and in january 1967 - though the (confirmed) january 1967 publication will very likely - almost certainly - have been printed (and distributed) for release in december 1966, as the merkin newsstand circulation system treated the declared month of publication as the off-sale date of mmpbs, just as it treated the cover date month of the fiction magazines it distributed... ppint. 13th Jun 2019		many further near-identical printings, all bearing the hector garrido cover art though ceasing to credit him: fifth printing 1/1970 cat# V2312, 75¢ (one of the two simultaneous thrid printings being now accounted the fourth) fifth printing 9/1972 cat# V2312, 75¢ (statement of ordinality may be an error by avon books) .. .. tenth printing c. 1974-75 cat# 21998, 95¢ eleventh printing c. 3/1976 cat# 29173, $1.25 number-string 380-29173-125 on spine (the last element being the merkin cover price in cents) twelfth printing c. 1977-78 cat# 01507-2, $1.50 isbn 0-380-01507-2 .. .. sixteenth printing by number-string, 9/1987 $3.50 (canada $4.50) isbn 0380-01507-2 publication date from locus .. .. iirc the twenty-somethingth avon books printing was reached in the early-mid nineties, still with hector garrido's art adorning the cover. ppint. 13th Sep 2018		near-identical editions/printings sharing cat#, cover art by neil boyle (signed) cover price 50¢ 256pp. including titles, indicia etc. refer to indicia to see if copy held was canadadian- or merkin- printed. no priority established nor liable to be; canadadian month of publication assumed to be identical with merkin from avon books' usual practice, and this given as november in the indicia publication history of the next, ''third'' printing (one of the two first printings was subsequently accounted the second printing, as was common merkin practice through the period this was taken to be the canadadian-carcassed and distributed printing). (it would be appreciated, should any bookcatter find the copy they hold to be the canadadian printing, if they were to check the card cover for any indication given of where this was printed, and to post the information, including the wording used, as a comment here.)
