ppint. 26th Dec 2017		iirc, galaxy science fiction magazine (q.v.) was the first digest format magazine to bear a colour-printed, high-gloss paper cover, which allowed much higher definition and quality reproduction of artwork° on better printing presses than had the lower grades of paper and card, and the older presses; so the original series of galaxy science fiction novels, in digest format, shared these benefits. ° - though this was not necessarily allied to the use of higher-quality art...

ppint. 5th Jun 2022		sidgwick & jackson first printing, first h/cvr edition (lloyd currey notes the text has revisions, but i've not compared this with the galaxy novels edition) cover (d-j) art by gerard quinn cover (d-j) price 9/6 176pp. including titles, indicia etc. bound with endpapers between cloth-covered boards the cover art is of great winged spacecraft waiting for take-off on three-rail trackway at station in desert, with mountains in distance, also three vertical rocket trails. some impracticalities in the scene, including lack of provision of means of getting the spaceship into launch position on the rails; but the spacecraft is seen in flight on the cover of the 1954 pan p/b, so the system evidently worked...
