no notional 5000 series cat# conferred during david & charles' 12/1972-1/1973 great renumbering, following their purchase of the readers union group of bookclubs from j. m. dent & sons, so no stock remained by then. (this comment is from another edition of this book)

sphere books' cat#s did not rise in any observable systematic sequence with reprintings /
new editions with new cover art, and might actually fall lower than the/an earlier printing/edition.
i've no idea why (/why not), and doubt anyone now remembers why (not), even if yet amongst the living. - try enquiring of sphere books' undead ex-employees - ? (this comment is from another edition of this book)

so should be re-flagged "international" according to respected moderator's rule
- or not so re-flagged, according to equally well-respected moderator's heartfelt plea
224pp. including titles, indica etc, end p. (this comment is from another edition of this book)
this is probably the second sphere books printing, possibly later than 1970, - unless the cover price (6/-) went down (to 5/- (25p), australia 80c, new zealand 80c, south africa 60c, east africa 6/00) on the eddie jones art-covered cat# 66842 1970 p/b. - which is not impossible, publishers being the well-oiled° organisations of frequently fallible infighting farceurs they are; but would not normally be the best bet.
otoh, the lower cover-priced edition does give a post-decimalisation alternatively-denominated uk price. . .
