ppint. 31st Dec 2019		cover (d-j) design by jerry thorp (credited on rear flap) cover (d-j) price $6.95 248pp? bound between boards with end-papers, issued in black & spot red colour-printed paper dust-jacket sbn 684-13083-1 on back of d-j and in indica serialised in galaxy vol.33 #1, 7-8/1972; vol.33 #2, 9-10/1972 (uk (universal-tandem) #2; #3) winner of the john w. campbell jr. memorial award (which would have had jwc spinning in his grave in indignation, despite being a thundering fine sf novel of a psi-talented human's growth and coming-of-age: it's ultimately rather depressing (unless, apparently, you're robert silverberg - or a reincarnation thereof)).
