32-page glossy magazine published in early 1964 featuring a series of photographs by one of Britain's foremost photographers, Norman Parkinson, with words by Maureen Cleave, then a leading columnist with London's Evening Standard newspaper.

Parkinson had been invited to photograph The Beatles by Jeremy Banks, associate editor at Queen magazine. Parkinson planned to photograph The Beatles first at the President Hotel in Bloomsbury, where they were staying, and then later that evening at work in EMI's Abbey Road Studios.*

The assignment took place on Thursday 12 September 1963, and Parkinson used nearly 30 rolls of film.

Photographs from the session appeared in Queen magazine in November and December 1963, before a selection of the most striking images were collected in The Beatles Book in early 1964. The Beatles Book was laid out by designer Frederick Barter and came wrapped in a red obi strip. Later it was reproduced for the US market by Pocket Books. Several images were used in a Pixerama Foldbook of The Beatles, published by Wolfe, and, in spring 1964, in the Dutch magazine Muziek Expres.*

In 1977 Melita Music reprinted The Beatles Book, possibly without permission of original publishers Hutchinson, although the reprint credits Hutchinson as the original 1964 publishers. No information on Melita Music can be found, but it might be a Maltese company as the reprint was "reproduced photographically and printed in Malta by Interprint (Malta) Ltd".

In 2018 ACC Art Books published The Beatles London 1963 which contains over 80 frames from the 1963 session.
