This books contains over 400 B&W photos, most of them never before published, and looks at Southern Pacific locomotives from World War 2 through the transition years to the dieselization of the system. The photos feature locomotives in daily service from the work-a-day yard engines to locomotives in mainline service or engines wandering down a branch line. The book also includes a condensed roster of the SP locomotives.
