ppint. 12th Dec 2017		this edition includes an introduction by gwyneth jones, but it does not include clifford simak's own introduction (1976) to the series or his final chapter in the canon, "epilog", written for "astounding: the john w. campbell jr. memorial anthology" the original anthology edited by harry harrison (1973), q.v., by inviting all the authors regularly and popularly associated with john w. campbell and the sf magazines he edited to contribute new stories in the most popular series published in the magazines; nor, therefore, does it include simak's brief introduction written for its inclusion in "city", both of which we included in the methuen uk p/b edition.
