almost certainly a pirated edition as per the rest of the 1970s priory books, unlikely to've seen much distribution outside the british isles, and newsagents within them, and as an (almost instant) remainder.

ppint. 1st Sep 2019		this edition of the novel is actually undated. it's early in the priory books cat# sequence, and so's almost certainly 1973 (they appeared early- to -mid-seventies - mostly in woolworth's remaindered books jumbled every which-way in the stationery section, or with the cheap plastic toys, rather than on the shelves of the (mostly p/b) books section. menzies newsagents & stationers also carried them, but didn't stock "real" books - leastways, not any branches that yr hmbl srppnt. entered did, well south o't'border (sfaicr). . .) les flood (fan and he of the e. j. carnell literary agency which he ran after ''ted'' carnell's death) attributed priory books and bridbooks to ''the nefarious peter haddock''. they were variously manufactured mostly by printers and bookbinders in eastern europe and/or israel, where costs were low and copyright considerations weighed very lightly.
