ppint. 9th Dec 2023		ace books mmpb undated°, unknown ordinality of printing but at least the second printing† cover art by frank kelly freas (unsigned, uncredited; was confirmed by his agent who possessed the signed painting) cover price 75¢ 192pp. including titles, indicia etc, end pp. advertising ° - entered date year of publication of this printing taken from locus #69, 8/12/1970 † - if the ace books five-digit system were being operated consistently, M-109 would've been deemed to've been a five-digit cat# ending in 0 or in 5, if there were stocks remaining when the system was introduced in 1970, and each subsequent printing would have incremented this number by one; if there was zero stock of the first printing at the inception of the five-digit system, and it was no longer on the catalog/order form (was ''out of print''), the first reprinting would've been allocated a first printing cat#, and subsequent printings incremented this number by one each time. the cat# of the next known printing is 76092; so 76094 could simply've been an error for 76091...‡ (‡ - but there is, however, (a small amount of) evidence suggesting the very first ace five-digit cat#s were allocated *before* the rules of the ace books five-digit cat# system were fully worked out. . .)
