ppint. 28th Jan 2020		priory books undated c.1973 almost certainly not legally-licenced uk p/b first printing, not first uk edition cover art unsigned, uncredited, re-used from fawcett gold medal mmpb of "ballroom of the skies" john d. macdonald (1968 & ff.) where also uncredited b+w interior illustration by jack gaughan signed with his "jg" monogram cover price 30p, 85c south africa, australia $1.00, new zealand $1.00, canada $1.25 so should be re-flagged "international" according to respected moderator's rule despite note° - or not so re-flagged, according to equally well-respected moderator's heartfelt plea 128pp. including titles, indicia etc. printed in israel photo off-set from ace double cat# M131, including jack gaughan's illustration as was the previous, equally-unlikely to've been legally-licenced bridbooks p/b edition ° - no known or reported distribution in canada, new zealand, australia, south africa, nor reported distributed via newsagents or the book trade for sale as a new book at the uk cover price



ppint. 11th Nov 2017		priory books appears to've been a bootleg publishers' imprint, possibly connected with bridbooks (q.v.), that got english-language p/bs printed & bound in israel (or other relatively lawless wrt copyright, etc. countries) and then shipped to the uk, without necessarily going to the bother of acquiring licences to the uk & commonwealth english-language paperback rights to the books concerned. all priory books seem to've been published as instant remainders, price gun labelled c. 7½p - 15p
