° contains twelve of the nineteen stories from the hardcover editions (including the rupert hart-davis h/cvr (uk 1956), q.v.) and ballantine books mmpbs, plus "the traveller" (3/1946 weird tales)

n.b. there was no connection between ace books uk and ace books (a. wynn, inc., ace books, inc.) usa.
ace books ltd. was later bought and folded into four square books ltd. by purchasers times mirror, inc. of los angeles to create new english library as the sister company to their new american library (previously signet & mentor books (etc.), originally created by ian ballantine and others to distribute and later to also publish penguin, pelican books (etc.) in north america).
