ppint. 20th Dec 2017		a first edition, if only upon a technicality, in which the indica writer did not believe: this there credits the existence of the precedent fantasy press hardcover (us 1950) of the same title, which included this and the novella, "the changeling". exists in near-identical merkin and canadadian printings, advised in indica, sharing the merkin-printed covers. no priority established. aka "earth's last fortress" as half of an ace books "double" (1960 us), q.v., which again is an earlier book publication, but is regarded by some as an anthology (or an omnibus) rather than an independent book publication, as it contains a second work, by another writer.° ° - thank ghu "bookcat" isn't inhabited by ocd-tending philatelists!
