ppint. 25th Jan 2022		panther books (probapossibly still an imprint of hamilton & co. (staffs.) first printing, first uk edition cover art unsigned, uncredited (looks quite richard powers-ish, but this is not an attribution; could easily be fairly early josh kirby) cover price 2'6 160pp. including titles, indica etc, end pp. advertising hamilton's moved to old brompton road, london and concentrated upon reprinting higher quality fiction licenced from uk & merkin h/cvr publishers under the guidance of editor gordon landsborough. they eventually changed their name to panther books, which had become their major imprint, and ''diversified'' back into licencing some books as original publications, eventually being bought by the tv, motorway services, records, tapes and film conglomerate, granada. from there on their future was as part of granada publishing, eventually being sold off as a whole to william collins & sons of glasgow - and by then also of london - renamed grafton, and then the whole of the collins publishing group fell into the swag-bag of that truly fine merkin citizen, rupert ''the dirty digger'' murdoch's empire, becoming harpercollinspublishers, approximately half of his global english (well...) language gigantopus.
