ppint. 21st Dec 2017		title is actually "golem(to the hundredth power)" - i.e. the "100" should be superscript, with no space after the "m" of "golem", golemⁿ where n=100. yr hmbl srppnt. does not know whether "bookcat" can reproduce this, or has an established mode for indicating this - in on-line texts, 2^2 is sometimes used to indicate "two squared", 2^3, " two cubed" etc: can bookcat cope with "golem^100" ?



ppint. 21st Dec 2017		timescape was the name adopted for the sf & fantasy imprint pocket books/simon & schuster hired david hartwell to set up and run (to compete head-on with random house/ballantine's by then immensely successful del rey imprint) shortly after it was started, as is indicated by the use of the s&s/pocket publisher isbn code, "0671-", and was not a separate publisher. title is properly " golem^100 " - " golem(to the hundredth power) "; but it seems bookcat cannot cope with superscript numbers indicating powers, nor with recording them as is also conventional online, such that 2^2 (= 4), 2^3 (= 8) pocket books timescape imprint mmpb simultaneous near-identical first printings sharing merkin-printed covers°, first p/b edition cover art by rowena morrill (signed "rowena") (re-used from and credited on h/cvr d-j back flap) b+w full-page interior illustrations by jack gaughan (credited) were based upon those by alfred bester in the submitted typescript and are an integral part of the book: but they were poorly-reproduced in all of the trade and mass market editions i've seen, compared with those by bester himself (iiuc?) submitted in the "manuscript". cover price $3.25 (canadian-carcassed copies for distribution north of the parallel, maple leaf on cover) cover price $2.95 (wholly merkin-printed covers for general distribution) 392pp? including titles, indica etc. (this comment is from another edition of this book)
