ppint. 27th Nov 2022		''millennium'' the novel was based upon the screenplay john varley wrote for the film of the same title, both being based upon his hugo award runner-up short story, ''air raid'' first published as by herb boehm in iamsf vol. 1 #1, spring/1977. the original short story is included in his reprint collection, ''the persistence of vision'', aka ''in the hall of the martian kings'', (1978 & ff.), and it has been re-collected since, as well as being frequently chosen by their editors for inclusion in reprint anthologies.



ppint. 27th Nov 2022		also exists as a later printing 10/1989 bearing the same isbn but a film tie-in cover, after the thomson organisation had sold sphere to the penguin group, who'd sold most of it onto macdonald futura/little, brown (warner books uk); this may bear the sphere logo or an orbit logo, but may still technically be a sphere book: check. it may even still credit penguin books and/or 27 wrights lane, london as the editorial address in its indica, if it was prepared by penguin before they sold sphere books on. cover art unsigned, uncredited save to film corp. cover price £3.50 (other overseas territory price? check) 224pp. including titles, indica etc. month of publication not given, taken from locus
