 hodder-headline headline books p/b

first edition published in h/cvr by bbc books (london 1996), the first penguin books uk p/bs (1997 + ff), avon books h/cvr (1997 +near-identical sfbc edition) and mmpbs (1998 +ff.), harpertorch mmpbs (2001+ff.) and harpercollins perennial merkin trade p/bs (2003+ff.), and headline review series/imprint (london 2005 +ff.) p/bs follow the first edition's original text.
effectively a novelisation based fairly closely upon, or sharing most of a common ancestor with, the bbc's dramatised t.v. serial - though there are some quite big differences.

four years later, a revised, expanded ''author's preferred text'' edition was first published by william morrow / merkin harpercollins in very expensive hand-numbered limited edition boxed h/cvr ($200.00 rrp, 1,000 copies, signed by neil gaiman) (2010), then in affordable by mere mortals william morrow / harpercollins trade h/cvr (2015 + ff.), hodder-headline headline h/cvr (uk 2016 + ff.) headline books p/b (uk 2017 +ff.); these include further additional material by neil gaiman;

n.b. this additional material is not identical in all of the editions reprinting his preferred text: it may or may not include ''how the marquis got his coat back'' (''london below'' setting novelette, fiction); and/or ''the neverwhere files'' (non-fiction: outline of draft of concept, series outline, excerpt from first episode script draft, letter by neil gaiman to ''FAN'' magazine written on-set)
