ppint. 19th Jul 2020		n.b. bookcat goes by the imprint name, not the ultimate corporate owner's name, so here should be macfadden or macfadden books - and the early contributors settled on "macfadden". (i don't actually remember when bernarr macfadden, the guy who ~fraudulently forced hugo gernsbak's radio experimenter corp. into a bankruptcy that proved to've been unwarranted, as it paid off well over $1 in the $1, sold, lost control of, died or retired ownership of macfadden books - or his "male fitness" magazine empire, etc; i suspect the story is available online...) (i've not seen the story of how the macfadden-bartell corp. was itself eventually taken over and broken up told anywhere, but manor books, which took over macfadden books' assets, was, um, somewhat less than excessively successful...)



ppint. 19th Jul 2020		macfadden books imprint near-identical first mmpb edition printings sharing merkin-printed covers, first p/b edition cover art (unsigned, uncredited) cover price 60¢ 224pp. including titles, indica etc, end pp. advertising refer to indica to see if carcass of copy held was canadadian- or merkin- printed no priority established nor liable to be, both stating a macfadden book ... 1968 publication month from indica of second printing, published by the successor company: 5/1974 successor imprint & publisher, manor books first mmpb edition from the same plates, accounted by them their second printing(!), recognising the above as their 11/1968 first printing: this had possibly been set up ready for macfadden books second printing when the new owners took over, as the next manor books printing (1976) recognises none of the earlier printings. . . cover art changed (but still unsigned and uncredited, for all it's new to the printing.)
