ppint. ● 21st Apr 2018		no, this mmpb with aka hadn't fallen through a chronoclasm: it really is 1977, ten years after the original hardcover. leasing the mmpb rights to so low a paying outfit as belmont/belmont tower/tower publications mayn't've been been lloyd biggle's idea, but doubleday's way of squeezing a little more out of their licence, as it'll likely've extended this 'til the end of the mmpb sub-licence. or, given it is a decade on from the doubleday first edition, it could just be lloyd biggle, jr.'s agent wasn't asking as many publishers as they might've, and accepted the first to offer - after all, doubleday'd already licenced mmpb rights off once before as part of an incredibly cheap package deal to modern literary editions, who'd published it as one of a hundred-odd curtis books (under the original title or near enough).
