In 2020, a remarkable trove of almost a thousand photographs taken by Paul McCartney on a 35mm camera was re-discovered in his personal archive. Having been stored as negatives and contact sheets for nearly sixty years, few of the images had ever been printed or shared beyond his immediate circle of family and friends. The selection of photographs shown in this book form an intimate record of the months towards the end of 1963 and beginning of 1964, when John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr travelled across Liverpool, London, Paris, New York, Washington, D.C. and Miami. During this period, The Beatles were propelled from being the most popular band in Britain to an international cultural phenomenon. These photographs provide a uniquely personal and never-before-seen perspective on what it was like to be a Beatle at the start of Beatlemania, from the man at the heart of it all.
