ppint. 23rd Feb 2021		first ace books mmpb printing, first edition cover art by gray morrow (signed, also credited) cover price 40¢ 176pp. including titles, indicia etc, end pp. advertising collects the four casher o'neil stories, with don wollheim introduction, as unnamed sections of a novel: mostly from frederik pohl's galaxy; the standout probably bought by cele goldsmith/lalli before amazing (& fantastic) were sold out from underneath her by ziff-davis to sol cohen's ultimate and ceased buying new fiction for a while: on the gem planet (novelette) galaxy vol.22 #1, 10/1963 with one b+w illustration by wallace wood on the storm planet (novella) galaxy vol.23 #3, 2/1965, with four b+w illustrations by virgil finlay on the sand planet (ntte) amazing vol.40 #3, 12/1965 with three b+w illustrations by jack gaughan three to a given star (nlla) galaxy vol.24 #1, 10/1965 with three b+w illustrations by gray morrow

(and their 1963-5 magazine appearences), but i've not done a count/estimate check, let alone a word-for-word comparison of the text, or part of it. ppint. 23rd Feb 2021		first ballantine books ballantine / del rey imprint mmpb printing, collection of the four casher o'neil stories with new introduction by john (j. j.) pierce cover art by michael herring (credited) cover price $1.75 208pp. including titles, indicia, introduction by john (j. j.) pierce etc. there could well be a canadadian-carcassed variant of both the the first, and the second printings, almost certainly sharing the merkin-printed covers; should your copy of either's publishing history indicate its carcass/'book'' was printed in canada, please post ''here'' giving the precise wording used to state this, and its cover price. thank-you, ppint.
