ppint. 25th Oct 2020		the cat# is neither an ace books, nor a berkley / g. p. putnam's sons form of cat#: it is more reminiscent of other mmpb publishers' mutually-incompatible cat#ing systems, where the first two digits are that publisher's code for the particular cover price, or of the merkin games industry manufacturers' & distributors' part-number cataloguing systems - again, mutually incompatible. as new infinities productions, inc. was one of gary gygax's business ventures after he was forced out of tsr games by its new owners, and tsr had run its own part no. cataloguing of its rpg tie-in books alongside the (i)sbn numbering system for them, it seems likely the new infinities cat#s were used for distribution via toy wholesalers to hobby games shops and general toy stores.



ppint. 4th Oct 2018		reference copy provided courtesy of tony at the old pier bookshop, morecambe seafront. multiple remaindered copies were available in cartons of 120 - 180 assorted mixed f&sf paperbacks from at least one or two of the big uk remainder dealers after new infinities productions, inc. went into bankruptcy. all of these that i've so far seen have been round punch-hole remainder hole-cut in the top fly corner of their front covers.
