 the spellsinger series original novel,
later divided in two for p/b publication, the halves provided with some additional text to stand apart:

#1: ''spellsinger at the gate'' (1983), (this novel)
#1a: ''spell singer'' (1983), q.v.
#1b: ''the hour of the gate'' (1983), q.v.
#2: ''the day of the dissonance'' (1984), q.v.
#3: ''the moment of the magician'' (1984), q.v.
#4: ''the paths of the perambulator'' (1985), q.v.
#5: ''the time of the transference'' (1986), q.v.

after some seven years delay:
#6: ''son of spellsinger'' (1993), q.v.
#7: ''chorus skating'' (1994), q.v.


#X: ''serenade'' (novelette) in ''masters of fantasy'' eds. bill fawcett, brian m. thomsen (2004), q.v.
is listed as a spellsinger story, but i don't know when it might be set in the series.

 phantasia press signed limited edition h/cvr first printing distributed in slipcase, 450 copies.

the original single novel a little later split in two by the author who created additional text to provide an ending for the first half, and a start for the second half, when these were published in mmpb & uk p/b.
