ppint. 18th Dec 2020		now an alternate history novel, in the subgenre, ''if hitler had won'', this was first published as by ''murray constantine'' in hardcover by victor gollancz in 1937 - so it was originally a ''future history'' sf novel. republished by victor gollancz in his new left book club (1940). lawrence & wishart were - prob'ly still are - a uk ''hard left socialist''/communist publishers in the eighties, and the editor i talked with a little there regarded reviving this classic sf novel as (re-)publishing a polemical work of fiction that just happened to be sfnal: he had no plans to published/republish any other sf - nor any fantasy.
