A luxuriously printed book containing 244 colour and 26 black and white photos taken by American photographer Ethan Russell whilst The Beatles were making the film Let It Be. Russell's photographs ended up on the cover of the Let It Be album and on the inside of the US-released gatefold sleeve of the album.

Originally Let It Be was called Get Back and was intended (when conceived in November 1968) as the soundtrack for a television film of the same name, featuring songs from the just released double album The Beatles. When Let It Be was finally released on 8 May 1970, it was packaged as a boxed set with a book, as had been planned for Get Back. It was also given the catalogue number held for the original Get Back album package (PXS 1).

The album was released separately as PCS 7096 on 6 November 1970 without the book. The book was not sold separately, and the boxed set is no longer available.
