| ppint. 13th Jul 2019 | random house group ballantine books mmpb first printings, first edition sharing merkin-printed covers reprint collection of twelve short stories, three novelettes and a novella, introduced by frederik pohl, and with an afterword by lester del rey cover art by h. r. van dongen (signed but this often guillotined off bottom edge, credited) cover price $2.25 (copies intended for distribution north of the parallel) cover price $1.95 (wholly merkin-printed copies for general distribtion) 368pp. (check) including titles, indicia etc, end pp. advertising refer to indicia to see if carcass of copy held was canadadian- or merkin- printed no priority established nor liable to be, both state first ballantine books edition: september,1978 some few thousands of copies imported by futura publications and distributed in the british isles (at least, plus western eurrp) bearing a peelable white label on the back cover with uk price (? 80p?) 3/1986 third printing (one of the above first printing being retrospectively accounted the second) near-identical except: cat# 32933 isbn 0345-32933-3 front cover typography changed (emboldened, no longer on a slant) cover price $3.95 (i've seen no report of a canadadian-carcassed version of this but one may exist, as this bears no split/dual pricing on front cover, such as for the next-reported printing/edition:) 1995 fifth printing near-identical except: cat# 32933 isbn 0345329333 front cover typography changed again cover price (canada $6.50) u.s. $5.99 | |
