ppint. 1st Mar 2018		adds a short story and a novella to "cache from outer space" (ace books ''ace double'' 1962), q.v., in a clever plastic disguise, as ''the long warpath''. . . the two ''bonus'' stories are from the four-story collection, ''the celestial blueprint and other stories'' (1962) in the same ''ace double'' mmpb: rastignac the devil (novella) fantastic universe vol.1 #6, 5/1954 (a sturch universe story) they twinkled like jewels (short story) fantastic universe vol.1 #4 , 3/1954 cover art by eric ladd shared by all four tor/pinnacle, tor, tor/st martin's press printings/editions bar-code field is three digits too small, and truncates bar-codes: add "534" in this case.

ppint. 8th Nov 2017		11/1981 second printing as shown by cover price of $2.75 with "jim baen presents" if tor/pinnacle; cat# 48-534 isbn 0-523-48534-4 - near-identical undated (1982), undeclared thrid printing if ditto but just tor (not pinnacle) and indicia states published by thomas doherty associates, inc. (no mention of pinnacle): pinnacle went bust in 1982 owing tor books between three and five months income (minimum), which eventually led to tor becoming the p/b arm of st. martin's press, and a subsidiary of pan/macmillan, and eventually holtzbrinck. 12/1986 - 4th printing (states third printing) if $2.95, isbn 0-812-53755-6 and no longer "jim baen presents" (he was lured away by simon & schuster/pocket books to set up his own baen books) (tor became the mmpb arm of st. martin's press, part of pan/macmillan, later reorgandised as an equal of pan/mac, ultimately owned by holtzenbrinck, "the other german publishing gmbh/megacorpse"); 9/1981 first printing, first edition if tor/pinnacle, "jim baen presents" and cat# 48-511 isbn 0-523-48511-5 $2.50 cover price: the first printings of the "jim baen presents" printings' covers had metallic ink on the front cover title, jim baen presents & lines, iirc, and perhaps on other parts of front cover; this metallic ink was dropped and replaced first by plain white (i.e. by no coloured ink), on later covers within the same first printing of the book carcass; and then by an orangey-yellow ink on the declared second and thrid printings. jim baen's tor books may well've been the first sf mmpb publisher to make extensive use of metallic inks on the front covers of their first printings. see also their first printings of jack chalker's "soul rider" series mmpbs.
