First edition. Novelization of the BBC Radio play broadcast in 1996 based on the TV series, with Letts adapting his own scripts. Published under the Doctor Who: The Missing Adventures line, this was the first novelization based on the TV series (as opposed to a spin-off work) not to be published as part of the Target Doctor Who Library, and it was also the first to be published before the story was actually broadcast; the back cover indicates a 1995 broadcast was planned, but the 6-episode story ultimately did not air until January-February 1996, only a few months before star Jon Pertwee's death. Cover art shows Pertwee as the Third Doctor and Nicholas Courtney as Brig. Lethbridge-Stewart. 268 pages.
