it is not clear whether this uk edition was accounted a variant of the 2nd printing of the merkin mmpb, or was produced and accounted the entire 2nd printing by warner books, inc.

ppint. 19th Jul 2018		suron international publications is the company established by ron letchford, production editor at thorpe & porter ltd. when they closed down their magazine division, c. 1978, to acquire the uk licence for e.c.'s mad magazine and spin-off paperbacks. he edited as well as published mad uk for several years, until selling on the licence (? or suron international publications ?) to london editions, continuing to edit the magazine - possibly until final owners, fleetway publications (ipc, then editione panini iirc) surrendered the licence. i know very little further about the uk mad magazine, or suron international publications, but that's how the latter came to be distributing this book in the uk, when the licence to distribute warner mmpbs in the uk generally was held by hamlyn paperbacks.



ppint. 19th Jul 2018		the retention of the isbn, printed in red upon the white spine background, looks more like an oversight - it is almost illegible - than deliberate: but who now knows? reference copy provided by courtesy of tony at the old pier bookshop, morecambe seafront.
