n.b. the purported isbn printed on the spine is a fake created by the interpolation of two zeros between the (i)sbn publisher code, 8439, and the numerical part of the cat#:

stripping off the price digits apended:
08439-0028- would not give a checksum digit of 5:

8 x 9 = 72
4 x 8 = 32
3 x 7 = 21
9 x 6 = 54
2 x 3 = 6
8 x 2 = 16
sum = 201, ÷ 11 gives the remainder = 3, so checksum digit would be 8

all leisure books purported isbns of the period should be checked as liable to be fakes, especially if they have been formed by the insertion of two zeros between the '0-8439-' and the numerical part of the cat#.
