ppint. 23rd Dec 2018		doubled with "the evil that men do" john brunner (1969), q.v., with which it shares front cover. retains cover design of previous belmont doubles, but drops the "belmont double" identification. near-identical printings sharing merkin-printed covers, and hence also cat# and cover art uncredited, unsigned cover price 60¢ ½ 176pp. including titles, indica etc. and both novellas/short novels. number-string on spine, 500-01010-060, is not an (i)sbn. (it may be an abn, sans any checksum digit, with cover price in ¢ appended.) refer to indica to see if carcass of copy held was canadadian- or merkin- printed. no priority established nor liable to be. (3/1975 belmont tower printing from same plates bears BT over new cat# 50787 over cdc (merkin news distributor) over new cover price $1.25 top fly corner redesigned front cover, will presumably be a new bookcat item, as will the uk flamingo p/b edition of this printing.) sequel to "the thief of thoth" (1968), q.v.



ppint. 7th Dec 2022		flamingo books imprint re-cover of belmont tower mmpb 1975 printing, first uk p/b edition nor uk address for flamingo books, nor the printers borne, so criminally illegal edition even if lin carter and/or other copyright holder was paid advance and/or royalties for uk publication, which is highly unlikely. the cat# quoted is a relict from the belmont tower 1975 mmpb edition, and unlikely to've had any significance in the yuk-of-gb-&-ni: the same applies to the number string on the spine, 507-50787-125, where 125 = the cover price of the belmont tower mmpb in merkin cents. cover art unsigned, uncredited photographic, re-used from 1975 belmont tower mmpb cover price 30p ½ 176pp. including belmont tower mmpb 2x titles, indicia, etc, 3 end pp. advertising for belmont tower magazine, mmpbs puff-line: a hartley quicksilver adventure (this comment is from another edition of this book)
