ppint. 1st May 2018		cover art shared by at least seven, possibly eight printings with this cat# and cover price: ninth printing retains cover art, but cover price has risen to 95¢, and to $1.50 on the eleventh (cover art & artist change as well as the cover price with twelfth printing), and cat# changes with each new cover price.

ppint. 3rd May 2018		the nel p/b indicia credits the merkin mmpb 1968 1st edition, q.v. below ("primary edition") and also that a shorter version was published in amazing stories magazine (serialised over three issues, in fact, 10/67, 12/67, 2/68), but omits mention of the rapp & whiting 1970 first uk edition, which is also the world first hardcover edition. jan parker's signature on the very bottom of the front cover could be & is trimmed off some copies by ordinary variation in the normal guillotining of the covered book in the manufacturing process.
