ppint. 23rd Dec 2017		title is "the sioux spaceman", singular, not "... spacemen" (corr. by 2/2020) her first-published novel featuring the council/confederation split i think: which also includes all those featuring the "dipple" displaced people's (& peoples') ghetto quarter, the beast master sequence, etc. etc; but n.b. quite a lot of andre norton's sf shares some parts of a setting without being fully consistent. . .

ppint. 26th May 2022		the last edition of ''the sioux spaceman'' that i stocked in IMT, as the popularity of most of her books sagged quite badly. although there was apparently a uk h/cvr edition in 1976 (which i've never seen), there wasn't ever a uk p/b. odd... ppint. 26th May 2022		grosset & dunlap charter communications ace books imprint mmpb, fourth ace books mmpb printing text re-set, as indicated by the changed extent of the book cover art by dean ellis (unsigned, uncredited; the original art sold by artnet.com so-attributed) cover price $1.25 160pp. including titles, indica etc, end pp. including biography (lin carter 1966), advertising undated; year and month of publication from stuart wells, year also from locus #166, 10/1974 undated (first third of 1977, my dating°) near-identical fifth ace books mmpb printing differs: cat# 76803 cover price $1.50 ° by comparison of extent of p/b with cover price, and the five-digit cat# not being within an isbn (this comment is from another edition of this book)



ppint. 26th May 2022		this printing notionally allocated the cat# 76800 on the introduction of the ace books five-digit system, giving the cat# for the next, near-identical printing in ~1969 of 76801. the text was re-set for the following ace books mmpb printing in 1974, which is in the taller mmpb format, and which bears new cover art by dean ellis. ppint. 26th May 2022		ace books mmpb undated second printing, first solo appearance; first being as half an ace double cover art unsigned, uncredited (ed valigursky ?); retained from the ace double° for the novel cover price 40¢ 144pp. including titles, indica etc, 11 end pp. including biography adds the unpaginated ''andre norton: a profile'' (nf) lin carter (1966) which, combined with interpolation of the new cat#, gives the 1966 second printing's date ° cover is modified from that of the double by removal of the blue band in chief, replaced by extension of the yellow field of the painting; new typography for the title & author, and moving the small print stating first book publication - which is if course no longer true - to one line reading vertically upward next to base of spine. the ace logo is in the same position, but now that with ace books in two lines across the ''a'', above the new cat# and price, on a darkened yellow field. the other half's cover replaced with a blurb.
