ppint. 5th Jan 2020		first-published, though last-set in series of three novellas, two published as half ace doubles: on standing on one's own feet (nf introduction) john brunner (amra vol.2 #36, 9/1965, revised 1976) #1: "the altar on asconel" (1965), q.v. #2: "the man from the big dark" (science fiction adventures vol.2 #6, 6/1958, q.v.) #3: "the wanton of argus" (as by kilian houston brunner, two complete science fiction novels vol.1 #9, summer/1953), aka "the space-time juggler" (1963), (this novella) omnibus of #1,#2 & #3, constituent parts revised, possibly expanded, by john for this edition: #O: ''interstellar empire'' (1976 & ff.), q.v. john's first short novel, published by curtis warren under one of their house names, seems to be a precursor: #a: ''galactic storm'' as by ''gill hunt'' (1951), q.v. whilst classified as a novella, the last-written in the series is: ''the stars move still'' john brunner (in ''strange pleasures 2'' eds. john grant, dave hutchinson (2003), q.v.
