ppint. 28th Apr 2018		there's been at least one edition bowdlerised of all usage of words in this book that have at any time been employed in a pejorative manner towards "black" people in merkia. my personal take on this is that, if the usage was not offensively intended, the author's words should be left to stand - with added feetnotes, noting where a usage is no longer acceptable because it unconsciously belittled or insulted africans whose skin colour was not that of most europeans of the time, and which has at times been used as an insult by the ignorant.
