 the second volume of the lord of the rings:

#1: "the fellowship of the ring" (1954), q.v. for listing of the whole work, and links.

cover art and interior b+w illustration by jack gaughan (credited, both signed)

384pp? including titles, indica etc.

no copyright date because ace books' case for being able to publish their editions of the three books without tolkien's or his agents' authority rested upon the claim that houghton mifflin, tolkien's merkin publishers, had inadvertently put the work into the u.s. public domain by infringement of merkin copyright law.
